Lamborghini Countach – A Mark of Greatness!

October 19th, 2009

If there is one car that marks exemplifying excellence, it is the Lamborghini Countach. This car is a car that everyone remembers as a classic super car. Though many of today’s super cars surpass it, so few lay claim to it marking history as the Countach has. Do you want one?

What makes the Lamborghini Countach so great? Is it the great design? Is it the engine? Is it the price tag? I think more than anything, the design is the mantle piece of the whole car.

Even though this car first came into being in the 70’s, the design was a futuristic design, which even some super cars of today can’t beat. The design was something totally new, and one which still holds its position as a super car design we can remember, kind of like how we all know Einstein, and call all geniuses Einstein’s!

Owning a Lamborghini Countach is not that hard. Even though just over 2000 were ever produced in the 70’s and 80’s, you still can find them with a bit of research.

Does the though of getting the original seem hard? Have you researched hard enough that you could not find a Lamborghini Countach or even the right one?

There is an alternative and it comes in the form of replica’s. These replicas have been modeled to look like the originals in all facets. This is great news is you want a Lamborghini Countach for cheap.

However there are many places that offer original Lamborghini Countach’s and there is nothing like owning the original. Even if it is a couple of decades old!

They run spectacularly still, even though they have aged. They are a great drive, and the good news is that they still can be found from a few places. Local car dealers might not have one readily available, but there are places online that have these gems for sale.

Car Fuel Saving Tips

October 15th, 2009

Petrol is becoming expensive nowadays. Price of the petrol is being raised very often in India which makes travel costlier. It is the right time to think about the fuel efficiency of cars. Here are the tips helpful in saving you fuel.

We can save petrol consumption considerably by changing the driving style. Maintaining correct air pressure in tires is the most important way to save petrol. Deflated tires will adversely affect the car and the hurt fuel economy. So, check the air pressure at least once a month. Always it is advisable to use thin tires for car. Thicker tires increase fuel consumption.

Avoid high speeds for your safety and fuel economy. Drive at a moderate speed of about 90 kilometers per hour. The car should be gradually accelerated to save petrol. Always avoid sharp braking and acceleration to save petrol consumption. If you are using the automatic transmission car, switch on your overdrive.

Sometimes you may have to start the car during the cold season. During such situations, do not press the accelerator pedal repeatedly. This wastes fuel. Start the car engine and allow it to run for 40 seconds. An engine will warm up faster during road travel.

Do not carry unnecessary weight in your car. It will increase fuel consumption. Avoid fitting heavy car accessories. It is advisable to remove car extra fittings and boot luggage when they are not in use. Every 50-kilo gram will increase your petrol consumption by 2%.

Whenever the car is held in traffic for a longer period of time, stop the car engine. It will save the fuel considerably. Avoid air conditioners at a low speed. Still, at speeds of over 75 kilometers per hour use of air conditioners offers better fuel economy than an open window.

Service your car engine at regular intervals. Dirty air filters increase fuel consumption. Clean the air filters frequently. Air filters are inexpensive and easy to change. Likewise, change the oil in your car periodically.

If you are in India, make your car bi-fuel. The conversion is an absolutely safe and petrol option is retained in bi-fuel vehicles. Available two options in the market are liquefied petroleum gas and compressed natural gas. You can reduce the travel cost considerably by using bi- fuel vehicles.

Custom Auto Upholstery & the Three Kinds of People it Attracts

October 15th, 2009

There are basically three kinds of people drawn to the world of custom auto upholstery. Understanding which “type” you are (broadly speaking) will go far in helping you understand what your needs truly are when you’re seeking the services of a custom auto upholstery specialist, which will in turn, help to ensure that you get the most out of it, and walk away with exactly what you wanted.

The three broad-based categories of people seeking services like these are:

1) Generalists, looking for repairs, maintenance, and upkeep. By far the most numerous group, these folks aren’t looking to spend an arm and a leg on some elaborate aftermarket project, they just want to keep their vehicle running nice and looking nice. For the former, they’ve no doubt got Triple A and a mechanic on standby. For the latter, they’ll turn to a custom auto upholstery specialist to keep the headliner and door panels pristine, and to repair or replace any rips and tears in the seats or consoles.

Most often, the jobs that this group brings to the custom auto upholstery specialist have fairly quick turnaround times, and are pretty straightforward. It’s rare that you’ll see a generalist working with his upholsterer on some long term, elaborate project.

2) Classic Car Restorers. This group is probably the second largest, and they almost always want big, deeply involved projects. Often, they’ll pick up a classic car for a song, with the knowledge and understanding that it’s seen years of neglect. They task their specialist with completely restoring the interior, while being faithful to the original design. These projects generally from several weeks, to several months to complete, depending on exactly what is being done, and the people in this grouping tend to be the most demanding and exacting, as they want absolute perfection in their restoration work (and rightly so!).

3) Auto Enthusiasts. Unlike the classic car restoration crowd, they’re don’t have a problem spending money on whatever they happen to be driving. For this group, it’s not about faithful restoration, but rather, creating a driving experience that’s absolutely unique to them. For these folks, their car is not simply a means of conveyance, but rather, an expression of individuality, and after market effects can only take you so far (they are, after all, still mass produced).

For this reason, the folks in this category will put their heads together with their specialist to create an often elaborate look and feel that they can be proud of when the job is finished. Again, these projects are likely to span weeks or months, depending on exactly how involved they are.

If you’re looking to have work done on your vehicle, give at least some thought to which of these categories you fall into before contacting your custom auto upholstery specialist. Understanding exactly where you’re coming from will help you define exactly what it is you’re looking for, and will help ensure you get exactly what you’re after in the end.

2010 BMW M5 Preview

October 15th, 2009

Though the 2010 BMW’s V10 under the hood is very powerful, the choices of steering feel and transmission are not conforming to M-Car standards.

Overview

An extraordinary engine V10 that produces 500-horsepower is enough to entice the BMW M5 lovers. If we view the muscle car era, the images are abnormal with V8s fastened to the minimum rubber and other suspension bits.

In the range of Super Sedans, everything costs nearly $90,000 and the figure of course being too high, but the M5s do not lose its reputation. Though the V10 is outstanding, M5 lacks the long awaited BMW DNA to earn its due recommendation.

The 3-series and 5 series enthusiasts loathe the dirty phrase of ‘active steering family’ and would like to shun these novel systems like plague. There is a possibility of mistaken identity of trademark steering feel for electric power steering and under certain driving conditions; the variable ratios sometimes feel out of sync, in comparison to the automotive mortals. This is pretty much in contrast to the visible M badge on the car’s bonnet.

High Expectations from the Critics and Buyers

The expectations of automotive mortals are high on finding the M badge on the car’s bonnet. There are two choices of transfer neither of which is savory. In the period of slick multi-clutch gearboxes, the standard seven-speed SMG (sequential manual gearbox), which is a single clutch automated manual, is declining. The BMW M5 has a unique dual-clutch unit of its own. However, the disappointing news is that both the 2010 M3 and M5 will be offered with an old system of SMG. On the brighter side, SMG will be deprived of the rev-matched down shifts throughout the day.

Car Rip-Off – How to Avoid a Lemon

October 13th, 2009

Have you ever been ripped off buying a car? I know I have. What made it worst was someone who I thought was my friend sold it to me! It is sad that so many people who otherwise may have good moral standards throw their ethics out the window when it comes to dumping a vehicle. Like always, it boils down to the money.

How to avoid a car rip off… is a long standing question. When dealing with a private party, your on a level playing field and have a better chance of catching on to the fraud. It’s the dealerships that can cause the real problems. You just can not know exactly what you are getting. They can clean them up really well and get the car running well enough to pass a sale. There are more checks a balances these days that will better protect you from a car rip off. But if you do not do your research, you will be hung out to dry.

Do your research On-line and determine what is the right vehicle for you. When you test drive the car, run it hard, punch it from a stop all the way up to 60 miles an hour. See how it feels and sounds. Be sure to take it down some bumpy roads and check for unusual noises. Crawl under the vehicle and check for leaks. If it looks to clean, that could be a bad sign. Someone may be trying to hide something. That’s one way to hide a classic car rip off

It’s always good to bring someone with you for a second opinion. And don’t be afraid to ask who ever you are buying it from if you can take it to your own mechanic for a inspection. They should be more than happy to let you do that. It can be a tricky thing avoiding a car rip off. I would sum up by saying, research hard, test diligently, seek other opinions and work the price the best you can. Chances are good you’ll end up with a decent vehicle sidestepping a car rip off.

October 13th, 2009

Not long out of driving school, you’re driving along without a care in the world and you notice a big sign advertising the latest blockbuster movie.

You grab your mobile phone and start to call your friend to organise seeing it later that evening. Chatting away on the phone, you lose track of what you’re doing and before you know it, you slam right up the back of another car. All this occurred within a matter of seconds.

This story is typical of many accidents involving learner drivers.

It’s important to maintain your focus while behind the wheel, a momentary lapse in concentration is a common cause to many car crashes and today’s learner drivers have even more distractions to contend with on our Australian roads.

So what are some of the common distractions you may face as a novice driver? Let’s take a look at the top 5.

  • Mobile phones – Talking on a mobile phone while driving increases your risk of a car accident. It’s no surprise, that text messaging while driving is more dangerous. If you can’t turn your mobile off while driving, the best solution is to pull over or ignore any calls until you arrive at your destination.
  • Adjusting mirrors – It may not seem like a bad habit, but adjusting your mirrors while driving can contribute to a car accident. You sure always ensure that the mirrors are set correctly before starting your trip. This goes double for fiddling with the car radio, electronic windows and Cd’s.
  • Passengers – For a learner driver, having occupants while driving can contribute to an accident. Australian studies have shown this is especially true for young male drivers who have 2 or more passengers traveling with them. Try to limit taking passengers and if you must, have a family member travel with you or older brother or sister.
  • Eating – Heading to the drive through for some fast food is an every day thing for many people while driving. Try eating inside the restaurant or waiting until you’re back at home or the office to eat your meal. A spilled drink is all it takes for you to lose control of your vehicle and be involved in an accident.
  • Distractions outside the car – It’s comes as no surprise that one of the biggest distractions for drivers occur outside of their car. You’re constantly bombarded by billboards, shops and then you have to contend with pedestrians and other drivers. Learn to expect the unexpected and you will be much safer on our roads for it.
