If Chivalry is Dead Ladies, I Think We Helped Kill It

October 9th, 2009

Last night I indulged myself in a guilty pleasure and watched Goodbye Mr Chips; not the sixties musical version with that O’Toole actor I used to think was a hottie, but the 1939 MGM version with suave Robert Donat playing kindly public school master Charles Chipping. If you haven’t seen it, please do. This sentimental, simply-told story is beautifully acted, very entertaining, and doesn’t have one car chase or any computer-generated imagery. In short, it has much of what Hollywood lacks today, but that’s the subject of another column.

One of the pivotal scenes is where “Chips” meets his future wife on the side of a mountain, and in the course of their first conversation tells her that she must think him very old-fashioned for thinking ladies shouldn’t ride bicycles, and that fifteen MPH is faster than human beings were meant to travel. She replies “I like men to be old-fashioned”.

Well done, Greer Garson. So do I.

That may sound a bit strange coming from a woman who grew up in the “women’s-lib” generation, but it’s absolutely true. Given the choice between a GQ-looking he-man versus a gentleman who will open the door for you, the door-opener gets my vote every time. I know it to be true because my late partner bowled me over not only because he had a great personality and good looks, but he used words like “courting” instead of dating, and ordered for me in restaurants.

I think the Women’s Liberation era was a confusing time for both sexes and while I’m glad of it’s positives, for instance, I no longer see “Help Wanted – Female” in the classifieds, I wonder what we gave up along the way. In gaining our independence it appears we sacrificed some of the common courtesies that existed between the sexes, those simple things like having a gentleman stand when you arrive in a room or light a cigarette; based on what I’ve seen from younger women the one “old-fashioned” idea that hasn’t been discarded is that men should pay for everything we want. I can’t blame men for being confused about their role. Let’s face it ladies, men can be easily confused……you can’t shout “girl-power” through one side of your face and “treat me like a lady” through the other. That’s as bad as watching Britney Spears fighting for child custody five minutes after you’ve seen her latest bikini ad for Candies. The poor guy will wonder if he’s breathing properly by the time we’ve sorted him out and at the end of the day It Just Doesn’t Work.

Before I get beat up too badly, I should say that my views come from the perspective of age and, hopefully some wisdom. Trust me, a man who is secure in his masculinity will know you’re a strong woman so there’s no need to shout about it. Likewise, a woman secure in her femininity will appreciate the respect, admiration and courtesy shown by an “old-fashioned” man and not mistake it for condescension. I know I do.

Damn you, Robert Donat, I’m going to get a lot of bad mail over this one.

Ways to Naturally Make Your Breasts Grow Bigger

October 8th, 2009

Making your breasts grow bigger is a wish that millions of women have around the world. And with our image-conscious culture forcing even more focus onto women’s figures, it’s no wonder that many are taking the plunge to have risky plastic surgery to make their breasts bigger. However, if you don’t want surgery, there is a much more powerful way to make your breasts grow naturally.

Breast growth is all down to a hormone in our bodies called “Estrogen”. This hormone is responsible for making us who we are – making our breasts grow and starting our menstrual cycle, etc. When we go through puberty (when we are 12-16 years old), lots of the Estrogen hormone is released into our bodies, making us change from girls into women. This is important, because during this time, our breasts will keep growing until the Estrogen supply runs out, meaning that many women are left with small breasts when puberty is over.

Because our bodies cut the supply of Estrogen to our bodies when we come out of puberty, if your breasts have not grown enough by that time, you will be left with ones you will not be happy with. This is the problem for most women, and luckily, it’s easily cured by boosting the level of Estrogen in your body. Fortunately, Estrogen is a naturally occurring substance, in plants and herbs… meaning that you can eat a certain foods and experience breast growth because of it.

Such foods as “Soy Beans”, “Flax Bread”, “Soy Yogurt” are all rich in Estrogen, meaning that when you eat them, they will boost the level of hormone inside your body. However, just eating a bunch of Estrogen-rich foods isn’t all you need to do. In order to make your body accelerate the growth of your breasts, you should stimulate the tissue around your bosoms with massages and exercises. You really need to make a routine in order to grow your breasts the most.

The Balanced Woman

October 8th, 2009

There is no doubt that the roles and the hats that women are wearing are ever changing. Women are not only becoming an important contributor in the workplace, but in politics, society and the global community as well. All of these hats that we wear in our roles and responsibilities can make us a little crazy at times, at least according to researcher David Meyer of the University of Michigan. According to Meyer, multitasking can lead to burnout, anxiety and depression. Not only that but Dr. Don Colbert, author and Christian physician, states that 70% of all doctor’s visits are stress related. So the message is “if you do not take the time for some self-care and life balance, you are not only jeopardizing your overall health, and well-being, but influence in the areas that God has called you to make a difference.”

Maybe it is a time for a little self-examination. How are you doing in the self-care, life balance department? Let me ask you a few questions.

1. On a scale of one to ten, where is your stress level right now?

2. What will happen to you if you continue at this level of stress, six months, one year from now?

3. What are your close friends, family saying about you and your schedule?

4. When was the last time you really had fun?

5. Where do you find it hard to say “no”? What might be keeping you from saying “no”?

Unfortunately, I find that many women I life and business coach score really low when it comes to self-care and life balance. Too often as women we are great at taking care of everybody, serving everyone else and placing ourselves last on the list. This can even be true in the workplace.

When we care for everybody else at our own expense, we not only hurt ourselves but we deny others the opportunity to grow, mature and do some things they need to do for themselves. More importantly, if we are always giving and giving, then eventually our own personal well is going to run dry. As a Christian Life Coach I often remind my clients that the greatest commandment Jesus gave us was not only to love God with all that we have but to love our neighbors as our-self. Self-love is definitely in the equation. You matter, your well-being matters and most importantly it matters to God.

So let me offer five strategies to consider to get moving in the right direction of self-care and greater life balance.

1. Make Self-Care a Priority! Everyone’s demand of time is different; however, one issue remains the same. If we are going to gain more balance in our life we have to to get intentional and make a plan. It has to become a priority or it just will not happen. We really do make time for the things that are important. So why not put yourself on the list and maybe at the top. Put “you” on your calendar, even if it is only for 15 minutes a day. Make an appointment with yourself. An appointment with you is just as important as your son’s soccer or your daugher’s basektball game.

2. Tap into joy! When I ask many women what they enjoy doing or what they love doing, they often have a tough time answering me. To me, that is a fairly good indication that they are overworked and overstressed. What lights you up? What makes you smile? What do you love and enjoy doing? What did you do as a child? Time to play. Time to have fun and discover the child in you. Give yourself permission to have fun!

3. Learn to say “No”! You might discover that you like it! What are some things you could do to create some space and some healthy boundaries for yourself? Maybe- “No” to answering the phone at night. “No” to that event you do not want to go to in the first place. No to that committee. You get the idea. It really is okay to sometimes just say “No.”

4. Ask for help! Women do not typically like doing this but asking for help not only helps us out and minimizes some of our stress load but is helpful to others as well. This is especially true in families with children. Responsibility spread around can be a good thing for co-workers and even for kids!

5. Live in the moment. I believe there is great value in living in the moment and enjoying each moment. It is the art of being present in life. Learning how to shut out the do lists or tomorrow’s project from our thoughts and just savor the moment of enjoyment or pleasure is not only a helpful exercise in dealing with stress but really a great way to live.

The great thing about all of these strategies is that they do not have to be expensive or even time consuming. They do need to be thoughtful and intentional. When we make the time to give ourselves a little tender loving care, I believe we not only enjoy the ride of life a little more, but we have more to offer to ones we are called to influence, our families, our business, communities and world.

Lucky Lips

October 8th, 2009

God has made all of us with different features and colors and physique. Few of us are blessed with all the features you can talk about in a male or a female body. We chose the topic of “Lucky Lips” to throw some light on one of the sexiest destination on a male or a female’s face.So what if some of us are not blessed with the lips puffier like Angela Jolie and well shaped like Drew Barrymore, we are humans and we can always reform what we are not originally born with. Here are few tips to follow to woo your man or the lady with a bright smile packed with beautiful lips.

For Darker Lips: Dark Lips is a major concern in regions where people are with duskier complexion or with dark complexion. Scientifically speaking the color of the lips become darker with age or time is basically because of Sun Rays and excessive smoke, cigarettes which produce more black pigment to reside inside the pout. A simple remedy to keep it more polished and puffy is using a Tooth Brush (you can use an old one) apply some petroleum jelly on your lips and rotate in clock wise direction all over your lips. You will find a major difference in the color and the texture of the lip within a week’s time. You can also initiate this while brushing your teeth every morning, try to clean your lips with same brush gently.

Chipped Lips: Chipped Lips is a concern with a set of people whose lips are very dry and it reacts to sudden change in weather, temperature etc. All you need to do is before you hit the hay at night, apply a generous amount of Lip Balm (we recommend fragrance free) and massage it with your index finger. Try to use a cotton cloth to remove it and then reapply before you sleep. This will completely scrub the chips on your lip and you will get up in the mooring with visibly no flakes.

Daily Care: Recommendation to Ladies will be to use a very mild shade (preferable nude pink or peach) with a tinge of Gloss; and to guys should always carry a Lip Balm. As per a survey your lip can be a major impact on the person you are attracted to as our lips reflect our internal maintenance and cleanliness.

Celebrity Teeth: It’s a myth that your teeth can completely become white in color by just brushing it in a right way. A regular check up with your dentist is important to know any decay or cavities. It is a turn off if you have drop dead gorgeous face but a yellow smile. Regular Polishing and brushing your teeth twice in a day will make a visible difference.

Close Encounters: You really need to make sure that you are very confident about how your breath smells like. Trust me you might lose a chance to kiss a guy or a girl ever again.

Tip for first date: Make sure you have lot of fruit juices and less spicy food before you are out with the person. Do not go with empty stomach as it will just worsen the effect. An effective mint or a dental gum can help you in this situation.

Food to Make Your Breasts Grow

October 7th, 2009

Many women have a big problem with the size of their breasts. It’s one of the most noticeable and definable parts of a woman’s body, and if you are unfortunate to have breasts you aren’t happy with, it can have all sorts of effects on your confidence and life. Luckily, you can make your breasts grow by eating a certain type of food…

The problem with small breasts is actually very simple. Essentially, it’s due to a lack of Estrogen in your body. Estrogen is a hormone which is responsible for making us women – it gives us breasts, starts our menstrual cycle and all the other things.

Estrogen is released in large quantities during puberty, resulting in the rapid development of our breasts…. but as soon as we come out of puberty, the

Foods to Make Your Breasts Grow Bigger

October 7th, 2009

Getting bigger breasts is a big wish for many women, but there’s been a "mystery" surrounding it for many years. The reality is that making your breasts grow bigger is actually a lot easier than you might think. It’s all to do with a hormone that every woman has in her body, and the foods that make that hormone grow your breasts for you…

The reason why some women have big breasts and some have small breasts is all down to a hormone inside us called Estrogen, and getting more of this hormone is the key to making your breasts grow bigger. You see, Estrogen is a natural hormone which gives us all our womanly features. It’s the single most important factor in a woman’s body, which makes us develop breasts and have a menstrual cycle, etc.

The reason why I’m talking about Estrogen is because it’s this hormone which decides how much our breasts grow. In lamens terms, it’s like a "magic formula" which tells your brain to grow boobs when you are 13 and to stop growing them when you’re 15-18. But unfortunately for many women, Estrogen told your brain to stop growing your breasts before they were as big as you would like… meaning that they now seem to be underdeveloped or small.

Fixing this is actually very simple. After puberty stopped your breasts growing, it just left enough Estrogen to keep your breasts the same size for the rest of your adult life. To make your breasts grow again, you simply need to eat the foods which are going to introduce a lot more estrogen into your body, telling your brain to make your breasts start growing again.

Luckily, Estrogen is a naturally occurring substance, which is present in many foods. Soy-based foods, herbs such as sage and rosemary, and even fruits such as oranges, contain enough natural Estrogen to make your breasts grow up to 1-2 cup sizes. However, you can’t just eat all these foods and hope your boobs will grow. You need to eat them in a certain amount each day in order for there to be no unwanted side effects.

You can find out more information about how to make your breasts bigger by eating Estrogen-packed foods. You can find out all these foods and other tricks at my website.

Working Moms – How to Afford a Part-Time Work Schedule

October 7th, 2009

You may like the idea of working less than full time, but you can’t help but think, “How could we afford it?”

Take these steps to assess whether “We can’t afford it” is an objective conclusion or an emotional response based on fear of the unknown.

First figure the approximate cut in your take-home pay that corresponds with your planned cut in hours.

For example, if you are planning a four-day workweek, (80% of full time), figure about 20% reduction in take-home pay; a three-day workweek (60% of full time), about a 40% reduction in take-home pay; and so forth. This is an approximate figure because of the income tax factor.

Next figure out what that dollar amount pay cut would be on a monthly basis. With that figure–call it your Monthly Savings Target–you can start to look at where you can trim your household budget.

Begin with the expenses that drop when you cut your working hours: lunches out, wardrobe or dry cleaning, commuting costs, child or elder care, and so on.

Then look at discretionary areas: club memberships, holiday spending, entertainment and recreational choices. Where can you trim your food, clothing or transportation budget?

Can you reach your Monthly Savings Target? Where else can you make adjustments? Will you be able to adjust to a different level of retirement contributions which might drop with a part-time schedule? How are other employee benefits impacted?

Financial adjustments are not a quick and easy step, but a critical planning component beyond the scope of this article. If budgeting and ways to reduce expenses are new topics for you, you’ll find several online resources and books to walk you through the process. The online resources I recommend for debt-free living advice are Crown.org and DebtFreeLiving.com.

In the end, you will probably find yourself making material tradeoffs in order to yield intangible, emotional benefits that cost mainly time and energy.

Isn’t that exactly what you are negotiating for with your new flexible work arrangement?

Want to Know How to Get Pregnant Quickly? – 3 Proven Tips to Help You Succeed

October 7th, 2009

How to get pregnant quickly?

Whenever a woman begins ovulating this is the perfect time for the conceiving of a baby and so if you are trying to get pregnant then this is the ideal time to get pregnant quickly. Ladies, it is imperative, simply imperative that you become intimately aware of the times of the month in which you are ovulating. Don’t worry, you will be able to pinpoint your ovulation times with a very narrow margin of error indeed The Luteal Phase is the most critical of these stages, and this period of time is classified as being a fortnight or 2 weeks for most healthy women. This may differ, so be prepared to factor in shorter/longer periods of time.

1- Check the BBT

If you find this a rather ungainly or awkward means of calculating when your ovulating period is then you may want to try your luck with the Basal Body Temperature which is by far, a more reliable method indeed.

The BBT method is extremely effective and reliable indeed as it takes a reading of the internal temperature of the female vagina and whenever a woman is ovulating the vaginal temperature will increase dramatically. This means that the couple should try to focus their love making around these times to improve their chances of success.

2- Save the Sperm

This is fundamental information and without it, the chances of success will not be quite as high because it will directly determine and predict when the sperm is at optimal quality before entry into the vagina. Therefore, fresh sperm has to be inside the female a short space of time before she begins ovulating in earnest, however that said, there are issues that may arise with the male as well in regards to the production of their sperm. Ideally, the man should refrain from releasing sperm (i.e. ejaculating) at least 4 days prior to the ovulation process taking place.

There has a been a great deal of debate to determine what impact frequent sexual intercourse has upon the production of sperm which can be neatly summed up in the maxim of “quality not quantity.” However like everything else in the world nothing is ever black and white or even remotely straightforward and so there has been arguments put forward to suggest that if the sperm is retained within the testicles then it will lose its effectiveness. The sperm some argue, if left without release will stagnate and fester and so the ejaculation will allow for old, redundant sperm to be released and new healthy sperm to be created.

3- Adopt a More Effective Solution

Given how complex the pregnancy process is, it is far better and more effective to adopt a holistic solution to any problems encountered during the attempts of falling pregnant. The holistic method is quickly winning favour and fans for one very simple but fundamental reason: it provides excellent results with no appreciable dangers or threats whatsoever if you want get pregnant quickly. This method is slowly but surely replacing the more mainstream methods.
